ABOUT THE WEBSITE DEVELOPER

This is supposed to be a picture of me, but something went wrong!

Me (on the right) and the love of my life (on the left) at her home island of Puerto Rico!

Hey there! You found my secret page! If you like the look of this website, and want some help with yours, don't hesitate to reach out!

I am Tyler J. Kenney, a technology specialist and enthusiast. I hold a bachelors degree in Computer Science from Commonwealth University of Pennsylvania, with a minor in Mathematics. I've worked in the public sector since I was 16, but have held jobs in software development in the private sector as well. When working on a website, policy, procedure, or any piece of software or technology, I prioritize performance and maintainability. I believe that modern website development (and software development for that matter) has become bloated and over-aethetic. Often you will see simple, albeit less aethetically pleasing applications or websites replaced with a gilded behemoth that kills performance just so you can center a div. I would rather have a website look old or rough-and-ready as long as it works when I ask it to do something. I do not believe aethetics and performance are mutually exclusive, though. I think there has simply been a lack of care and respect for software and website development that has seen abstraction eclipse skill. I try to put my skills to work to fight this carelessness in my job with the North Carolina Department of Revenue, and with the personal projects I do for me, my friends, or family. Anyone can create a website now-a-days, but only a handful can make it performant, aethetically pleasing, and maintainable.
